R/V Mishki

Overview

The R/V Mishki is a 27' Boston Whaler Guardian-series offshore vessel added to the Oregon State University (OSU) centralized fleet to fulfill urgent operational needs for long-term seabird ecological research. Built on Whaler's legendary unsinkable commercial-grade hull, Mishki provides rugged offshore capability, redundant propulsion, large, protected deck space, and modular working configurations suitable for scientific, diving, and coastal operations.

Project Highlights:

Mishki supports a 40+ year ecological seabird monitoring program requiring offshore capability, 360° visibility, long operating range, and redundant systems. Due to unprecedented budget restrictions, the OSU Small Boat Program sourced and acquired this vessel, integrating it into the centralized fleet and relieving researchers of financial and administrative strain.
