Scientific Diving
OSU Scientific Diving
The OSU Scientific Diving Program (SDP) enables and enhances the university's capacity for safe underwater research and education by providing scientists and students with the necessary scientific diving skills, technology, and support in accordance with the latest American Academy of Underwater Sciences (AAUS) Standards for Scientific Diving.
Any university employee or person(s) conducting scientific diving under the auspices of Oregon State University must meet OSU standards and policies, and have their diving approved in advance by the OSU Diving Control Board (DCB). The Diving Safety Officer (DSO) is then responsible, through the Diving Control Board to the Office of Marine Operations for the daily conduct and oversight of the university's scientific diving activities.
